Robotics and Mechatronics Expert for low-cost CE gaming, toy, and IoT devices – perm. position in Los Angeles, CA OR Toronto, Canada  

We have been retained to find a Robotics and Mechatronics Expert to lead development of small and very low-cost electronic computer controlled consumer devices such as games, toys, and iOT/Connected home devices. 

Requirements:  

• Expertise in robotics and mechatronics in the consumer electronics industry
• Firmware and hardware design project management and technical leadership with strong communication skills and a keen ability to work with customers and non-technical clients.  
• Prototyping, advanced design, inventing, and vendor management experience - to oversee vendors and partners developing hardware and firmware for apps and devices. 
• 3D modeling, industrial and visual design
• Experience architecting and leading hardware and firmware design (C/assembly/protocols) for small systems (4,8,16, 32-bit micro controllers) and mobile-scale systems (Linux- or other OS-based microcomputers), overseeing firmware design for small low cost processors and devices and overseeing hardware design including schematic design, board layout, systems assembly, integration.
• Creativity and a desire to work on fun devices like small CE devices such as games and toys. 
• Firmware and hardware design project management and technical leadership with strong communication skills and a keen ability to work with customers and non-technical clients.  
• Experience architecting and leading hardware and firmware design (C/assembly/protocols) for small systems (4,8,16, 32-bit micro controllers) and mobile-scale systems (Linux- or other OS-based microcomputers), overseeing firmware design for small low cost processors and devices and overseeing hardware design including schematic design, board layout, systems assembly, integration.
• Bachelor’s Degree in electrical or mechanical engineering (or equivalent experience); Master’s or Ph.D. Degree preferred. 

Experience in any of the following areas are huge plusses:  

• Mobile, cloud, and web software development for web services control or customization of connected intelligent devices.
• project and vendor management of hardware, software, control systems, and multi-vendor systems integration.
• Realtime control of consumer electronic devices (such as cameras, toys, stet-top boxes) using mobile devices 
• mobile apps software design and architecture experience 
• computer vision 
• speech processing 
• 3D modeling, industrial and visual design

Location: Los Angeles CA or Toronto Canada. Relocation support available for fast, easy relos.

Compensation: Compensation depends on experience, but most qualified candidates will be in the $100,000 – $150,000 USD/yr. range.
