Lead Architect – Sensors and control systems for small CE gaming and toy devices (firmware, electronics, networking, wearables) – perm. position in Los Angeles, CA
We have been retained to find a Sensors and Control systems Architect to lead development of small and very low-cost electronic computer controlled consumer devices such as games, toys, and iOT/Connected or wearable devices.

Location / Comp / Other: Salary depends on experience, but for reference, most qualified candidates for this role will be earning a salary of $115-145k plus bonus / benefits. Our client is seeking a Los Angeles area candidate. Candidates must be local, or willing to relocate quickly with a small amount of help or no help (i.e. fast, easy relo).

Requirements:
- Required: Expertise in sensors and control systems based on deep experience with low-cost consumer electronic (CE) devices, algorithms, electronics, firmware, and embedded networking.
- Required: Technical leadership, vendor management, and an ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical senior executives.
- Strongly preferred: Sensors experience for applications such as motion control, wearables, or intelligent robotics applications is strongly preferred such as: sensors, wearables, gesture sensing, accelerometers, environmental sensing, light sensing, motion control, balance feedback, etc.
- Huge plusses: Maker space interest and experience, web and mobile apps connectivity and control of CE devices
- Must have: Creativity and a desire to work on fun devices like small CE devices such as games and toys. An advanced R&D and inventor’s mindset.
- Firmware and hardware design project management and technical leadership with strong communication skills and a keen ability to work with customers and non-technical clients. Design for manufacturability is a big plus.
- Prototyping, advanced design, inventing, and vendor management experience - to oversee vendors and partners developing hardware and firmware for apps and devices.
- Experience architecting and leading hardware and firmware design (C/assembly/protocols) for small systems (4,8,16, 32-bit micro controllers) and mobile-scale systems (Linux- or other OS-based microcomputers), overseeing firmware and hardware design for small low cost processors and devices
- Bachelor’s Degree in electrical or mechanical engineering (or equivalent experience); Master’s or Ph.D. Degree preferred.
- Mobile, cloud, and web software development for web services control and customization of connected intelligent small CE devices.
- Intelligent Robotics, motion control, wearables, electronic toys / games
- Mechanical and mechatronics engineering
- Product modeling and design for manufacturability
