Advanced Research – Network Design and
Engineering
FUNCTION: Participate in cutting edge Network design and Engineering Research – focusing on software-defined networking (SDN) and OpenFlow open-source programmable network protocol designed to manage and direct traffic among routers and switches in order to make networks simpler, more flexible, and more manageable. You will also design and engineer cutting edge network architectures for broadband and Wi-Fi, and do advanced research, participate in industry and university research and standards groups, and lead a group of graduate students to prototype and test new protocols and architectures – and to publish research results.
REQUIREMENTS:
LOCATION: San Francisco CA. Relocation benefits are available. Candidates nationwide are encouraged to apply.
SALARY: Very competitive staff role with full benefits. Pay depends on experience but candidates earning up to $175,000 are encouraged to apply.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Masters or PhD degree in Computer Science or Engineering is required.
- Capable of leading a small team of researchers and graduate students / interns for advanced research and development of software-defined networks (SDN) and highly configurable advanced broadband and wi-fi networks.
- Strong protocol expertise including IPv4, IPv6, TCP, UDP, SCTP, DCCP, Wi-Fi – as well as network switching and routing and network management protocols (such as SNMP). Knowledge of Openflow and FORCES (IETF RFC 3746, RFC 5810) is a huge plus but not required.
- Recent publications demonstrating advanced research in the networking and protocol areas
- The ideal candidate will have a PhD (or MS with additional research experience) and industry experience at a major network or software company doing advanced network R&D.
